***Please Read “Guidelines for Story Approval Below Before Submitting Your Story***
How to Share Your Story
There are two ways in which you can share your story:
Option A (easiest method)
Send us a permanent link to your story. We will review it and if we like it we will post it in our stories from the web link. This is the easiest way to submit a story.
Option B (preferred method)
- Be sure you have a free WordPress account.
- Submit a request to become a contributor using the form below.
We will personally review your request and if approved, you will be able to share your personal stories directly on Borderland Faith as a Contributor / Author.
Your posts will be under your own name / username and appear on the Borderland Faith Stories blog.
Guidelines for Story Approval
The primary purpose of this site is to provide a platform for the sharing of personal stories involving the tension between doubt and faith. Everyone (regardless of belief or lack thereof) is welcome to submit their story, but to meet the purposes of this site, it must fall within the boundaries of the overall theme.
For a story to be approved it needs to meet the following guidelines:
Reflect the tension between one’s personal faith and doubt
This is a broad area and can encompass a wide-ranging area of topics.
Topics can include, but are not limited to:
- disillusionment or hurt from within one’s spiritual community
- Real world geographical boundaries that have contributed to a personal tension between faith and doubt
- loss of a certain version of one’s faith (ex. doctrinal issues)
- Struggling with leaving or finding a spiritual community
- Doubts brought on by loss or suffering
- Tensions, divisions and or lost relationships created by different opinions surrounding politics, doctrine, science, cultural issues, etc…
These are only a few examples for reference. If you are unsure about thematic alignment, you are welcome to contact us for clarification.
Not used as a platform for standing on a soapbox
This site is dedicated to those who live or find themselves in the tension between faith and doubt. This is not the place for those who wish to shout their beliefs (or lack thereof) at passersby in a virtual town square. There are many other platforms online for those types of stories. People hear are invited to be candid and vulnerable in a safe and welcoming environment.
The story needs to cover some aspect of your own, sincere reflection of your personal journey
We want to hear your story. Not the story of someone else. Each person’s story is special, unique and adds to the tapestry of our lives.
Meet a minimum level of quality
You need not use big words or have sophisticated ideas in your posts. In fact, straight forward and easy to read posts are valued and easier for a larger audience to understand. However, submitted stories do need to meet a certain minimal level of quality which includes being reasonably free from grammar and syntax errors. A few errors here and there are not a big deal, but there must not be so many errors that it becomes difficult to read.
Admins reserve the right not to publish any story
Admins may review a story and for reasons not covered above decide it is does not fit with the theme of the site. If admins do not post your story, we will try to reply with an explanation.
You are allowed to include a website link and or email along with a bio and any other relevant writing you would like to promote at the end of your posts. Please just ensure it is not off topic and is directly related to you. (Original content)
